CERTIFICATION EXTENSION FREQUENTLY ASKED
QUESTIONS

Are you grandfathering in activities that
occurred since last certification?
There will be no
grandfathering of activities. This means
that activities completed prior to the start date of this program
(target is September 2002) will not receive credits towards the
certification extension. There is one exception - specific classes
taken during the Spring 2002 workshops in Orlando as was communicated
to the membership early in 2002.
If one were to author and present at a FP
track does that mean that one would receive 7 points?
Normally yes. However, since there is
no grandfathering you will only receive credit for presenting not
authoring for the September 2002 conference.
Under "Present 1 FP Track Presentation",
what does "30 - once per presentation" mean?
A presentation will receive credits only one
(1) time per extension period. Multiple, unique presentations would
be needed to get 30 credits.
If I teach the same workshop in Spring 2001
and Spring 2002, does that mean I'll only receive 15 points (for
a one-day class), or would I receive 30?
There will be no grandfathering before the start
date of the program. Therefore, no credit will be received for teaching
or authoring classes for the Spring 2001 and Spring 2002 workshops.
Does a subcommittee count for the committee
credits?
Yes and no. Only "full time / regular"
members of a standards committee can receive credits. If a member
of a subcommittee is also a "full time / regular" member
of the committee they can receive credit.
On the counting and validating a count, what
information is necessary to prove the work completed?
How do we track conducting FP counts and validating
FP counts?
This is a work in progress, but remember than
no counts or validations performed before the start date of the
program will receive credits.
It is my understanding that speaking at past
conferences are not counted. Is this correct?
Yes that is correct, there will be no grandfathering
before the start of the program.
If we contributed to the "IT Measurement"
book that is now being advertised by IFPUG, are we going to get
credit for our contribution? If so, what category?
You will not receive any credit since there is
no grandfathering before the start of the program.
If I pass the CFPS Exam and take FP Workshops
during the same week can I use the Certification Extension Credits
for the FP Workshops toward a Certification Extension?
Classes taken during the same week than an individual
sits for the CFPS exam may be applied to his/her next extension
period, assuming a successful exam.
If I pass the CFPS during the same week as
the Annual Conference and attend presentations that are eligible
for Certification Extension Credit, can I use those Certification
Extension Credits toward a Certification Extension?
Conference presentations attended during the
same week that an individual sits for the CFPS exam may be applied
to his/her next extension period, assuming a successful exam.
