How to count one time master entry effort? Example: For employee detail data entry screen, Country and the State is the drop down selection data entry fields. The two drop downs are from the pre configured masters and depends on the Country selection relative State list get filled in second drop down for user selection (as validation). Master has not been maintained by User. Please suggest how to count for these types of one time master entry? |

Hello Sachin, It would appear this information is code data, and is not counted, nor would its creation or maintenance be counted. Any references to this data would not be counted as an EP and it would not be counted as an FTR. Hope this helps, Steve |

Hi Steve, Referring to the point you mentioned as code data, please help for counting effort for following scenario: Consider the Application of Borrower Risk measurement. Loan Risk Rating requires: 1) Income details/ Balance sheet etc … relative to borrower type hence Master for Borrower Type wise Balance sheet Items. 2) Industry master, Business Master 3) Borrower’s Business wise, Management related, Industry related Qualitative Question masters. 4) Qualitative Question wise answer option with weight/grade master. All these masters are complex and require customization for each new implementation, how can this effort s for creation and customization of master be counted? - Sachin |

Hello Sachin, Perhaps I should have been more complete for your first question. Clearly that is a list of valid values that fits the definition of code data, but also it is not maintained by the user. For the second group, it is not so clear that these are just simple static lists, but still, it sounds like they are static lists, albeit complicated, but still are not maintained by the user. Even if these were maintained by the user, they would need to be examined carefully to see how they should be classified as business, reference, or code data. As for effort measurement, it is clear that this is not the type of activity intended to be measured by FP. As you indicate, the effort is some randomly distributed amount depending on the implementation while the FP count would be a constant (independent of implementation). Clearly you should have other ways to measure and account for this effort. Hope this helps, Steve |
