Hi!

COSMIC, IFPUG, MKII and NESMA conform with 14143 and have been confirmed as International Standard.

FISMA FSM conforms with 14143 but has not been confirmed as International Standard.

Methods which conform with 14143 are called FSM Methods.

1. Do you agree?
2. Are there other methods which are called FSM-Methods even they do not conform with 14143?

Thanks for reply!

Regards, Dominik

Not only is COSMIC-FFP a recognised international standard, but you might like to know that the COmmon Software Measurement International Consortium (COSMIC), developer of the COSMIC-FFP functional sizing method, has been awarded a medal in the 2006 British Computer Society Professional Awards and is short-listed in the top four in the ‘services’ category (the final winner will be announced on 7-Dec-06 in London).

I’d also like to bring your attention to the free benchmark currently being offered by COSMIC in collaboration with the International Software Benchmarking Standard’s Group (ISBSG). This is open to anyone who submits data for one or more projects before 31-Oct-06. Participants will receive the complete report, plus an individualised report specific to the data they’ve submitted. Participants will benefit from clear objective information about their, or their supplier’s, process performance, which will enable a better focus for investments in improvement activities. The comparative data will help participants and their partners understand how well projects compare with their peers.

For more info, click here http://www.measuresw.com/services/meas/COSMIC_ISBSG%202006.html SMS would naturally be very pleased to be able to help you and/or your clients collate and make a submission to take advantage of this rare opportunity. This is an international initiative, so could incorporate data from multiple sites, if that should be desireable.
